How competitive is healthcare marketing in Atlanta?

Short answer

It depends on what you sell. In our 2026 planning estimates, an Atlanta general-dentistry click costs about $7.80, the 6th-cheapest of 20 metros, while an IVF click costs about $22.10, the 3rd-most expensive of 16. On Google reviews, Atlanta ranks 6th of 20 metros (481 practices).

Key points
  • Dental and dermatology clicks run below the metro median in our planning estimates; IVF runs well above it.
  • An Atlanta IVF consultation is estimated at about $780, 3rd highest of 16 metros. Georgia's infertility law covers fertility preservation, not IVF.
  • Chiropractors set the organic bar: 23.3% have 500+ Google reviews, the highest share of 20 metros.
  • Dermatology is the softer specialty: median 78.5 reviews vs 125 nationally, and a 4.51-star average.

“They were able to get all my ideas and work with me over a period of three to four months and create this amazing website. It's super customized, very modern, and it incorporates all the elements that I had wanted — the patient portal, nice pictures, a very interactive website, patient reviews. I would highly recommend their company to anyone who wants to make an excellent website.”

Cheap clicks for dentists, expensive ones for fertility clinics

Most "how competitive is my city" answers give one number. Atlanta needs at least two, because the price of a click there swings sharply by specialty. The table sets each Atlanta estimate against the median of all the metros in the same report.

Cost per click, 2026 planning estimates (January to August 2026) from our dental, dermatology and IVF benchmark reports; not quotes. Metro median and difference are our arithmetic across the metros each report lists.

For dentists and dermatologists, Atlanta is one of the more affordable large metros to advertise in. A general-dentistry click at about $7.80 is roughly a third of the San Francisco estimate. Fertility is the opposite: Atlanta's IVF click is among the three most expensive in our fertility benchmark, and a new patient consultation is estimated at about $780, against $310 in the cheapest metro.

The fertility report ties that gap to insurance. Georgia has an infertility insurance law, but according to RESOLVE's state-by-state list it covers fertility preservation for people whose treatment may cause infertility, not IVF. Where IVF is mostly paid out of pocket, more patients compare prices and clinics before booking, which can mean more clicks for each consultation.

Chiropractic is the deepest corner. The median Atlanta chiropractor has 194 reviews, 4th of 20 metros, and 23.3% have 500 or more, the highest share in the country (national 11.1%). Dentistry is deep too: a median of 357 reviews, with 37% past 500.

Where there is room

Dermatology, physical therapy and weekend dentistry

Dermatology is the softer specialty. Atlanta dermatology practices have a median of 78.5 reviews against 125 nationally, 40.9% have fewer than 50, and the average rating is 4.51 stars, 4th-lowest of 20 metros. Only 84.8% list opening hours on Google. With cheap dermatology clicks as well, this is the Atlanta specialty where both channels are most open.

Physical therapy clinics also sit below national (95 vs 122). And in dentistry, access is the gap: just 10.1% of Atlanta dental practices list a weekend day, against 25.5% nationally, the 2nd-lowest share of 20 metros. A practice with Saturday hours, shown on its profile, competes with few peers on that search.

One more basic is worth checking. Only 88.9% of Atlanta medical weight loss clinics list a website on their Google profile, the lowest share of 20 metros (national 96.8%). Review profiles in that category are close to national (49 vs 42), so a complete profile is an easy way to look more established than the clinic next door.

What this means for your practice

What this means for your practice

  1. Dentists and dermatologists: use paid search. Atlanta clicks are below the metro median, so ads can fill gaps while reviews build.
  2. Fertility clinics: measure cost per consultation. Clicks are expensive and patients compare; clear pricing and fast follow-up decide bookings.
  3. Dermatology: fix the basics and grow reviews. Hours, recent reviews and replies can lift a practice in a thinner field.
  4. Chiropractors: plan for a long climb, or target a narrow neighborhood where the 500-review practices are not.
  5. Show weekend hours if you have them. Few Atlanta dental practices do.

How we know: source, sample, date and limits

Click costs: planning estimates from our dental (20 metros), dermatology (19 metros) and IVF (16 metros) benchmark reports, January to August 2026. The "metro median" and the percentage differences are our own arithmetic across the metros each report lists. Google benchmark: public Google Business Profile data for 481 Atlanta practices in 9 specialties, found through Google searches centered on Atlanta and collected in September 2026, part of the 20-metro sample behind the State of US Healthcare Marketing 2026.

  • Small samples: the Atlanta hair restoration group is 14 clinics and the med spa group 20; treat those rows as directional.
  • Georgia's coverage rule is taken from RESOLVE's state-by-state list of infertility insurance laws (checked October 2026).
  • Cost figures are planning estimates, not quotes or guarantees. Review counts measure visibility, not quality of care.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Atlanta a competitive market for healthcare marketing?

Moderately overall, with big differences by specialty. Atlanta ranks 6th of 20 US metros on Google review depth in our 2026 benchmark of 481 practices. Paid search is cheap for dentistry (about $7.80 a click) but expensive for IVF (about $22.10), based on our planning estimates.

How much do Google Ads cost for Atlanta practices?

Our 2026 planning estimates for Atlanta are about $7.80 per click for general dentistry, $25.80 for cosmetic dentistry, $5.90 for medical dermatology, $15.30 for cosmetic dermatology and $22.10 for IVF. They are planning ranges, not quotes.

Why is IVF advertising expensive in Atlanta?

Our fertility benchmark links higher acquisition costs to states without IVF coverage laws. Georgia's infertility law, as listed by RESOLVE, covers fertility preservation for people facing medically caused infertility, not IVF itself, which can mean more patients compare prices and clinics before booking. Atlanta's consultation estimate (about $780) is 3rd highest of 16 metros.

How many Google reviews do Atlanta dentists have?

The median Atlanta dental practice in our study has 357 Google reviews, against 319.5 nationally, and 37% have 500 or more. Only 10.1% list weekend hours, one of the lowest shares of 20 metros.

Is dermatology SEO in Atlanta hard?

Less than in many large metros. The median Atlanta dermatology practice has 78.5 Google reviews against 125 nationally (14th of 20 metros), and 40.9% have fewer than 50. Ratings are lower than average too, so a practice with steady, recent reviews can stand out.
