“They were able to get all my ideas and work with me over a period of three to four months and create this amazing website. It's super customized, very modern, and it incorporates all the elements that I had wanted — the patient portal, nice pictures, a very interactive website, patient reviews. I would highly recommend their company to anyone who wants to make an excellent website.”
Phoenix and Scottsdale are different markets
Patients in the Valley cross city lines easily, but the Google results they see in Phoenix and in Scottsdale are not the same. Our 2026 benchmark searched both separately, and the gap between them is wide. Scottsdale ranks 3rd of 20 metros on review depth; Phoenix ranks 15th.

The biggest gaps are in elective care. Scottsdale dermatology practices have a median of 246 reviews against 58 in Phoenix; in plastic surgery it is 129 against 36. Scottsdale medical weight loss clinics, at 103, are more than twice the national median. Phoenix, by contrast, sits below national in dermatology, plastic surgery, IV therapy and medical weight loss.
The difference is easy to put in time. A new dermatology practice that collects 10 reviews a month would reach the Phoenix median of 58 in about 6 months; reaching the Scottsdale median of 246 at the same pace would take about 25 months. That is simple arithmetic that ignores competitors' own new reviews, but it shows why the same practice can look established in one city and new in the other, a few miles apart.
Dentistry and therapy: the crowded corners
Phoenix is not thin everywhere. The median Phoenix dental practice has 379.5 reviews, above the national 319.5, and 34.4% have 500 or more. Physical therapy clinics (159) and chiropractors (149) also sit above their national medians. In these categories a new Phoenix practice faces established competitors with years of review history, much like its Scottsdale peers.
Ratings do not separate practices here either. Phoenix averages 4.77 stars in dental and 4.78 in dermatology, close to or above national norms.
Weekend hours: a Phoenix dermatology habit
One access figure stands out. 46.7% of Phoenix dermatology practices list a weekend day on Google, the 2nd highest of 20 metros and far above the national 27.5%. In Scottsdale the figure is 18.5%. Physical therapy goes the other way: only 6.7% of Phoenix clinics and 6.3% of Scottsdale clinics list weekend hours, among the lowest of any metro, which leaves room for a clinic that offers Saturday sessions.
Some of the cheapest clicks among large metros
Our 2026 planning estimates put Phoenix general-dentistry clicks at about $6.90, the 5th cheapest of 20 metros and less than a third of the San Francisco figure. Orthodontics runs about $12.60 and cosmetic dentistry $22.90. Medical dermatology is about $5.20 a click and cosmetic dermatology $13.50.
IVF is pricier: about $18.40 a click and $680 per new patient consultation. Arizona is not among the states with an infertility insurance law in RESOLVE's state-by-state list, so more patients compare cash prices, though Phoenix still costs less per consultation than Miami, Austin, Atlanta, Dallas or Houston in our fertility benchmark.
The pattern suits a two-track plan: in Phoenix's thinner specialties, cheap clicks and a modest review program can make a practice visible quickly; in dentistry, paid search buys time while reviews build.
What this means for your practice
- Benchmark against your own city. A Phoenix dermatology practice and a Scottsdale one face very different review counts.
- Win Phoenix neighborhoods first before chasing Scottsdale patients, where elective-care competitors have far deeper profiles.
- Use cheap clicks while they last. Phoenix paid search is inexpensive by big-metro standards; measure cost per booked patient.
- In dentistry, plan for a long review program, since Phoenix and Scottsdale dental profiles both run above the national median.
- Offer weekend sessions where peers do not, such as physical therapy, and show those hours on Google.

How we know: source, sample, date and limits
Google benchmark: public Google Business Profile data collected in September 2026 from Google searches centered on Phoenix (225 practices in 7 specialties) and on Scottsdale (493 practices in 9 specialties), treated as separate metros in the 20-metro sample behind the State of US Healthcare Marketing 2026. Review-depth index: each specialty's city median divided by its national median; the index is the median of those ratios. Click costs: Phoenix planning estimates from our dental, dermatology and IVF benchmark reports, January to August 2026; there are no separate Scottsdale click estimates.
- Small samples: Phoenix groups range from 13 to 64 practices, and med spa and hair restoration had fewer than 10 Phoenix results and are not reported. Treat Phoenix figures as directional.
- Because the two searches overlap geographically, some practices near the boundary may appear in either group.
- Cost figures are planning estimates, not quotes or guarantees.
