US Med Spa Consumer Behaviour Report 2026: what patients expect vs what they get
We studied 555 US med spas across 20 metros and about 3,000 of their patients' Google reviews. The full report brings every finding together: what patients value most, where their expectations and their experience diverge, and how your city compares.
- Patients write mostly about people and results: staff (48% of theme mentions) and results (34%), both about 98% positive.
- The biggest mismatch is booking and communication: about 54% of mentions are negative (48 mentions, a signal rather than a verdict).
- Online, profiles look complete but quiet: median 5.83 new reviews a month and a 61% average reply rate.
- The PDF adds benchmarks for 19 US cities, a self-scoring worksheet and a "what to fix first" playbook.
- Every practice welcome — retainers from $499/mo, Goals-Driven engagements, Performance-Linked Payout Models available.

“They were able to get all my ideas and work with me over a period of three to four months and create this amazing website. It's super customized, very modern, and it incorporates all the elements that I had wanted — the patient portal, nice pictures, a very interactive website, patient reviews. I would highly recommend their company to anyone who wants to make an excellent website.”
Six things you'll know by the end of the report
- 1The top 5 things patients value. What about 3,000 Google reviews say patients care about most, and how positive each theme is.
- 2The mismatches. The themes where patients' expectations and their experience diverge, starting with booking and communication.
- 3The online mismatch. What patients look for on Google, and what med spa profiles actually show: review pace, replies, weekend hours.
- 4Benchmarks for 19 US cities. Ratings, typical review counts, review-depth bands and weekend opening for every reportable metro.
- 5A worksheet to score your own med spa. Ten minutes, six numbers, compared with the national and city benchmarks.
- 6What to fix first. A practical playbook ordered by effort and impact, none of it requiring a bigger ad budget.
The top 5 things med spa patients value
Short answer: people and results. Nearly half of what patients write about is the staff and how they were treated; about a third is results. Both are around 98% positive. Price and value is the one top-5 theme with a visible share of complaints.
| # | What patients write about | Share of mentions | Positive |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Staff & bedside manner | 48% | 98.6% |
| 2 | Results / effectiveness | 34% | 97.8% |
| 3 | Pain & comfort | 4% | 99.2% |
| 4 | Price / value | 4% | 84.1% |
| 5 | Cleanliness | 3% | 98% |
Share of 2,990 theme mentions in reviews from a random 115-spa subsample. A review can mention more than one theme.
Where expectations and experience diverge
Short answer: patients rarely complain about the care. Complaints cluster around the process: booking, before-and-after expectations, waiting and selling.
These themes have 48 to 107 mentions each, so read them as signals. The full report explains what each mismatch usually means and how to close it.

Common questions
Is the report free?
Yes. Fill in the short form and we email you a download link straight away. The headline findings, methodology and aggregate dataset are also public on our website.
What data is the report based on?
Public Google Business Profile data for 555 US med spas across 20 metros, collected in September 2026, and about 3,000 Google reviews from a random 115-spa subsample, classified by theme and sentiment. No survey was used and no med spa is named.
Does the report say how patients choose a med spa?
It shows what patients write about in their reviews and what they can see on Google profiles. That tells you what patients notice and value after a visit; it is not a survey of how they chose.
Which cities are covered?
Nineteen metros with at least 10 med spas each, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Miami, Orlando, Scottsdale, Las Vegas, Denver, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, Nashville, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle. Phoenix had too few med spas to report on its own.
Will I get sales calls?
We may follow up once by email or phone to offer a free benchmarking call. If you are not interested, just say so and we will not contact you again.
A note on this guide: it explains marketing practice, not legal advice. Rules on privacy, advertising and insurance change and vary by state, so confirm anything compliance-related with your own counsel.
