“They were able to get all my ideas and work with me over a period of three to four months and create this amazing website. It's super customized, very modern, and it incorporates all the elements that I had wanted — the patient portal, nice pictures, a very interactive website, patient reviews. I would highly recommend their company to anyone who wants to make an excellent website.”

Key takeaways for practice owners

What these numbers mean for your chiropractic practice

  • Your star rating will not set you apart; your review count can. The average chiropractic practice already sits at 4.77 stars, but 27% have fewer than 50 reviews. A steady ask after every good visit moves you further than chasing a perfect 5.0.
  • Benchmark against your city, not the national number. The median runs from 54 reviews in Philadelphia to 294.5 in Austin. Check your metro on the city benchmark table before setting a review goal.
  • Weekend hours are an open lane. Only 30.8% of chiropractic practices list weekend hours. If you open Saturday mornings, make sure Google shows it and say so in your ads and on your booking page.
  • Write for pain, and for people 45 and over. 85.7% of adults who use chiropractic do so for pain, adults 45–64 are the most likely users, and chronic pain climbs to 36.0% after 65. Service pages for back pain, neck pain and sciatica, with clear new-patient steps, match how people search.
  • Be precise about Medicare. Medicare Part B covers spinal manipulation for subluxation only. If you serve Medicare patients, say which services are covered and which are self-pay, so nobody is surprised at checkout.

Methodology & how to cite

Where the numbers come from

  • Our Google study (29 statistics). Public Google Business Profile data for 1,035 US chiropractic practices across 20 metros, collected in September 2026, part of a 9,452-practice study of 9 specialties. Ratings are simple averages; review counts are medians; shares are percentages of practices in the sample. Weekend and days-open figures come from the hours listed on each profile.
  • Publishing rules. Aggregates only. No practice is named, no review text is quoted, and no city with fewer than 10 practices in the sample is reported. Derived figures (sums, ratios, ranks) are calculated from the published averages and say so in the method line.
  • External statistics (16). Quoted from the primary source linked under each figure (federal agencies, professional bodies, peer-reviewed journals and surveys that publish their method). Each keeps its own year; we did not adjust or project them.
  • What we do not publish here. US advertising costs (cost per click or per lead) and patient fees. We only publish figures we can source, and we do not have a verified public US dataset for chiropractic ad costs.

FAQ

Common questions

How many Google reviews does a chiropractor need?

The median US chiropractic practice has 125 Google reviews, 27% have fewer than 50 and 11.1% have 500 or more. The local number matters more: city medians run from 54 in Philadelphia to 294.5 in Austin (1,035 practices, 20 metros, September 2026).

What is the average Google rating for a chiropractor?

The average US chiropractic practice holds a 4.77-star Google rating, which ranks 6th of 9 specialties in our study. Ratings are tightly bunched, so review count and recency usually separate practices more than the star average does.

How many chiropractors are there in the US?

The American Chiropractic Association counts about 70,000 chiropractors in the US. The Bureau of Labor Statistics counts 61,700 chiropractor jobs in 2025 and projects 9% growth from 2025 to 2035. The two measure different things, so the numbers differ.

What percentage of Americans see a chiropractor?

In 2022, 11.0% of US adults used chiropractic care, up from 7.4% in 2002, according to National Health Interview Survey data analyzed by the NIH. Of adults who used chiropractic in 2022, 85.7% used it for pain.

Are chiropractors open on weekends?

Only 30.8% of US chiropractic practices list hours on a weekend day, and the average practice is open 4.9 days a week. Chicago has the highest weekend share (50.9%) and Las Vegas the lowest (15.8%).

Does Medicare cover chiropractic care?

Medicare Part B covers only manual manipulation of the spine to correct a subluxation. After the Part B deductible, the patient pays 20% of the Medicare-approved amount. X-rays, massage therapy and acupuncture ordered by a chiropractor are not covered (Medicare.gov).
