Eye Hospitals on Google in India: 2026 review study
We collected the newest Google reviews of 35 leading eye hospital brands across seven Indian cities: 1,750 reviews, 1,195 of them with text that we classified by theme. - The most common complaint theme is wait time & scheduling (44.0% of negative reviews), n = 75 negative reviews (national: 18.8%). Next: staff & bedside manner (21.3%).
- Owners replied to 60.3% of reviews on average, the 3rd lowest of the seven specialties (national 60.5%); 62.9% of brands replied to at least half (n = 35 profiles with review data).
- The median profile has 6,424 Google reviews and adds about 135.6 a month (national: 1,910 and 22.9). Average rating 4.80★, n = 35.

How eye hospitals compare with other specialties
Eye hospitals average 4.80★ on Google (the 4th highest of the seven specialties, above the national 4.78★). Across the seven specialties, averages sit in a narrow band, from 4.67★ (multispeciality hospitals) to 4.89★ (dental clinics), so the rating on its own rarely separates one leading profile from another. Volume and pace do: the median eye hospital here has 6,424 reviews (the 2nd highest of the seven specialties) and adds about 135.6 a month (the 2nd highest of the seven specialties).

What reviews of eye hospitals talk about
Of 1,195 reviews with text, the most common theme is staff & bedside manner (56.7%), followed by results (24.0%). Compared with the national mix, the theme that stands out most is staff & bedside manner: 56.7% here against 49.0% across all 245 brands.
What negative reviews are about
6.3% of reviews with text were negative, 92.7% positive and 1.0% neutral. Among the 75 negative reviews, wait time & scheduling leads with 44.0%, then staff & bedside manner (21.3%). The sharpest difference from the national pattern is wait time & scheduling: 44.0% of negatives here, 18.8% nationally.
What this means for marketing
For owners and marketing heads of eye hospitals, the numbers point to a short list of priorities:
- Fix the most common complaint firstWait time & scheduling accounts for 44.0% of negative reviews (n = 75). Publish realistic OPD hours and appointment-slot information on the Google profile and website, and say in the confirmation message how long a visit usually takes. Many wait-time complaints are about expectations as much as minutes.
- Keep replying, and improve the repliesOwners replied to 60.3% of reviews on average, below the national 60.5% (n = 35), and 37.1% of brands replied to fewer than half. The gap to close now is quality: a personal reply to each negative review within a day or two, an offer to resolve it offline, and no treatment details in public.
- Set a review-request routine against your peersThe median leading profile here adds about 135.6 reviews a month (national 22.9). If yours adds fewer, a consistent post-visit request by WhatsApp or SMS, sent to every patient without incentives or filtering, closes the gap over months. Google’s policies prohibit incentivised and selectively solicited reviews.
- Use what reviewers already valueFor eye hospitals, people write about how doctors and staff treated them more than anything else. Show the team by name on the Google profile, website and video, and keep the same tone in every reply.
