How dermatology clinics compare with other specialties
Dermatology clinics average 4.71★ on Google (the 2nd lowest of the seven specialties, below the national 4.78★). Across the seven specialties, averages sit in a narrow band, from 4.67★ (multispeciality hospitals) to 4.89★ (dental clinics), so the rating on its own rarely separates one leading profile from another. Volume and pace do: the median dermatology clinic here has 1,150 reviews (the 3rd lowest of the seven specialties) and adds about 19.1 a month (the 3rd highest of the seven specialties).

Each specialty covers five leading brands in each of seven cities (n = 35). Ratings, review counts and website from the Google profile; review pace, reply rate and sentiment from each profile’s 50 newest reviews. * One orthopaedic profile in Pune returned no reviews, so review pace and reply figures for orthopaedics, Pune and the national total use 34, 34 and 244 profiles.

What reviews of dermatology clinics talk about
Of 1,249 reviews with text, the most common theme is results (45.3%), followed by staff & bedside manner (41.4%). Compared with the national mix, the theme that stands out most is results: 45.3% here against 29.4% across all 245 brands.
What negative reviews are about
9.2% of reviews with text were negative, 90.2% positive and 0.6% neutral. Among the 115 negative reviews, staff & bedside manner leads with 27.0%, then wait time & scheduling (18.3%). The sharpest difference from the national pattern is staff & bedside manner: 27.0% of negatives here, 23.0% nationally.
What this means for marketing
For owners and marketing heads of dermatology clinics, the numbers point to a short list of priorities:
- Fix the most common complaint firstStaff & bedside manner accounts for 27.0% of negative reviews (n = 115). Treat the front desk and patient coordinators as part of marketing: script the first call and the reception handover, and train the people who reply to reviews to acknowledge the person before the problem.
- Reply to more reviewsOwners replied to 40.9% of reviews on average, below the national 60.5%, and 60.0% of brands replied to fewer than half (n = 35). Replies are read by everyone comparing profiles. Reply to every review, take complaints offline quickly, and keep treatment details out of public replies.
- Set a review-request routine against your peersThe median leading profile here adds about 19.1 reviews a month (national 22.9). If yours adds fewer, a consistent post-visit request by WhatsApp or SMS, sent to every patient without incentives or filtering, closes the gap over months. Google’s policies prohibit incentivised and selectively solicited reviews.
- Use what reviewers already valueFor dermatology clinics, results are what reviewers write about. Use consented, compliant patient-experience content rather than stock imagery, within ASCI and medical-ethics rules on testimonials and claims.
