How dental clinics compare with other specialties
Dental clinics average 4.89★ on Google (the highest of the seven specialties, above the national 4.78★). Across the seven specialties, averages sit in a narrow band, from 4.67★ (multispeciality hospitals) to 4.89★ (dental clinics), so the rating on its own rarely separates one leading profile from another. Volume and pace do: the median dental clinic here has 1,518 reviews (the 4th highest of the seven specialties) and adds about 17.5 a month (the 4th highest of the seven specialties).

Ratings, review counts and website from the Google profile; review pace, reply rate and sentiment from each profile’s 50 newest reviews. * One orthopaedic profile in Pune returned no reviews, so review pace and reply figures for orthopaedics, Pune and the national total use 34, 34 and 244 profiles.

What reviews of dental clinics talk about
Of 1,354 reviews with text, the most common theme is staff & bedside manner (42.2%), followed by results (28.6%). Compared with the national mix, the theme that stands out most is pain & comfort: 12.5% here against 3.2% across all 245 brands.
What negative reviews are about
3.3% of reviews with text were negative, 96.1% positive and 0.6% neutral. Among the 45 negative reviews, price & value leads with 24.4%, then upselling (20.0%). The sharpest difference from the national pattern is upselling: 20.0% of negatives here, 6.2% nationally.
What this means for marketing
For owners and marketing heads of dental clinics, the numbers point to a short list of priorities:
- Fix the most common complaint firstPrice & value accounts for 24.4% of negative reviews (n = 45). Make money conversations predictable: say on landing pages and in ads what a first consultation includes and when costs will be discussed, and make sure estimates are explained before anything starts.
- Watch upsellingIt makes up 20.0% of negative reviews here against 6.2% nationally. Check that ads and landing pages promise what actually happens in the consultation room. Upselling complaints usually describe a gap between the advertised offer and the plan the patient was given.
- Keep replying, and improve the repliesOwners replied to 62.3% of reviews on average, above the national 60.5% (n = 35), and 31.4% of brands replied to fewer than half. The gap to close now is quality: a personal reply to each negative review within a day or two, an offer to resolve it offline, and no treatment details in public.
- Set a review-request routine against your peersThe median leading profile here adds about 17.5 reviews a month (national 22.9). If yours adds fewer, a consistent post-visit request by WhatsApp or SMS, sent to every patient without incentives or filtering, closes the gap over months. Google’s policies prohibit incentivised and selectively solicited reviews.
- Use what reviewers already valueFor dental clinics, comfort is something people notice and write about here. It belongs in ad creative and on landing pages, framed as the patient experience rather than a clinical claim.
