“They were able to get all my ideas and work with me over a period of three to four months and create this amazing website. It's super customized, very modern, and it incorporates all the elements that I had wanted — the patient portal, nice pictures, a very interactive website, patient reviews. I would highly recommend their company to anyone who wants to make an excellent website.”
Los Angeles in three numbers
- 52.6% of LA plastic surgery practices list weekend hours on Google, the highest of 20 metros and more than three times the national 14.5%.
- 0.7 is LA's review-depth index: the typical LA practice has about 70% of the national review count for its specialty, 18th of 20 metros.
- $51.10 is our planning estimate for a cosmetic-dentistry click in LA, the 4th highest of 20 metros.
Put together, they describe a market that competes hard on convenience and on ad spend, but where many practices have not built the review depth seen in New York, Houston or Scottsdale. That combination shapes what works for a practice trying to grow in LA.
Weekend hours are close to standard in LA
In most cities, opening on Saturday is a way to stand out. In Los Angeles it is often what patients expect. LA is above the national weekend share in 8 of 9 specialties and has the highest share of all 20 metros in cosmetic and plastic surgery and medical weight loss.
| Specialty | LA n | Weekend day (LA) | National | Median reviews (LA) | National |

The dental figure shows the norm: 48.4% of LA dental practices list a weekend day, against 25.5% nationally. Medical weight loss clinics are at 71.1%. A new practice that opens weekdays only is not just missing a differentiator here; it is behind the local standard.
Review profiles are thinner than you might expect
For a metro of its size and ad prices, Los Angeles has modest review depth. 8 of 9 specialties sit below their national median. The median LA dental practice has 240 reviews (national 319.5), and only 23% have 500 or more. In the newer cash-pay categories the gap is wider: LA medical weight loss clinics have a median of 23 reviews and 78.9% have fewer than 50; hair restoration clinics have a median of 20.
The exception is dermatology, where LA practices have a median of 160 reviews against 125 nationally and average 4.76 stars, above the national 4.62. Ratings elsewhere sit close to national norms, so in LA, review volume and recency, not stars, are where a practice can pull ahead.
Ad prices: high for cosmetic work
Our 2026 planning estimates put LA general-dentistry clicks at about $16.90 (the 4th most expensive of 20 metros), orthodontics at $29.80 and cosmetic dentistry at $51.10. Medical dermatology runs about $12.40 and cosmetic dermatology $37.20, the 4th highest of 19 metros.
Fertility is the lower-cost exception. California requires large-group plans to cover fertility treatment, including egg retrievals, and our planning estimates put LA IVF clicks at about $15.80 with a new consultation at about $460, roughly half the Miami or Austin figure.
Aesthetic practices often add Meta and Instagram, where our aesthetic lead-cost benchmark finds visual offers tend to produce cheaper, if more variable, leads; the point here is that in LA, every paid channel sends patients to a profile that will be compared with competitors who are open on Saturday.
What this means for your practice
- Meet the local hours standard and make sure Google shows it, including holiday hours. In LA that is the baseline, not a bonus.
- Treat reviews as the cheapest growth lever. With thinner profiles than most big metros, a steady monthly review target can reach the local median.
- Keep cosmetic ads tightly targeted. At around $51.10 a cosmetic-dentistry click, broad keywords and generic landing pages waste money fast.
- Win your neighborhood. LA is many markets; focus profile work, local pages and ad geography on the areas your patients actually come from.
- Check California advertising rules before running claims-based or before-and-after creative.

How we know: source, sample, date and limits
Google benchmark: public Google Business Profile data for 539 Los Angeles practices in 9 specialties, found through Google searches and collected in September 2026, from the 20-metro sample behind the State of US Healthcare Marketing 2026. "Weekend day" means the profile lists opening hours on Saturday or Sunday. Review-depth index: each specialty's LA median divided by its national median; the index is the median of those ratios. Click costs: planning estimates from our dental, dermatology and IVF benchmark reports, January to August 2026.
- Los Angeles is a large, varied metro; neighborhood markets differ from the metro figures. Groups range from 26 to 126 practices.
- Listed hours may not match hours actually offered; we measure what patients see on Google.
- Cost figures are planning estimates, not quotes or guarantees. California IVF rule: RESOLVE, insurance coverage by state.

Common questions
Is Los Angeles a competitive market for medical marketing?
Yes, but in a particular way. Click costs are high (our 2026 planning estimates put general dentistry at $16.90 a click) and LA practices keep long hours, with weekend opening above the national share in 8 of 9 specialties. Review profiles are thinner than average: LA ranks 18th of 20 metros for review depth.
Are Los Angeles plastic surgeons open on weekends?
Far more often than elsewhere. In our 2026 benchmark, 52.6% of Los Angeles plastic surgery practices list at least one weekend day on Google, the highest of 20 metros and well above the national 14.5%.
How many Google reviews do LA dental practices have?
The median Los Angeles dental practice in our study has 240 Google reviews, below the national median of 319.5. 23% have 500 or more, against 30.9% nationally.
How much do Google Ads cost for Los Angeles practices?
Our 2026 planning estimates for Los Angeles are about $16.90 per click for general dentistry, $51.10 for cosmetic dentistry, $12.40 for medical dermatology, $37.20 for cosmetic dermatology and $15.80 for IVF. These are planning ranges, not quotes.
What is the best way for a new practice to compete in Los Angeles?
Match local hours first, because weekend access is expected in many LA specialties. Then build reviews steadily: LA review profiles are thinner than in most large metros, so a consistent request routine can reach the local median sooner than in New York or Houston.
