What is a good cost per lead for a med spa?

Short answer

Our 2026 planning estimates for US med spas: $40 to $120 per qualified lead for Botox, $55 to $180 for laser hair removal, $75 to $200 for injectable packages and $180 to $450 for body contouring. A "good" figure sits inside your treatment band for your metro tier, and a booked consultation typically costs 2.5 to 4 times the lead.

Key points
  • Botox $40–$120 per qualified lead; body contouring $180–$450.
  • Metro matters: Botox runs $95–$180 in prime metros such as Manhattan and LA, $40–$70 in smaller metros.
  • Cost per booked consult runs 2.5–4× the lead cost.
  • Raw form fills overstate lead volume by 2.4–3.8× in unaudited accounts. Define "qualified" before comparing.

“They were able to get all my ideas and work with me over a period of three to four months and create this amazing website. It's super customized, very modern, and it incorporates all the elements that I had wanted — the patient portal, nice pictures, a very interactive website, patient reviews. I would highly recommend their company to anyone who wants to make an excellent website.”

By treatment

Cost per qualified lead and per booked consult, by treatment

A single "med spa cost per lead" mixes a $350 tox appointment with a $6,000 body-contouring series, so we never quote one. The US Aesthetic CPQL Benchmarks 2026 report splits it by treatment. Dark bars are cost per qualified lead; light bars are cost per booked consultation.

Skincare and retail lead $35–$95 · booked $105–$290
Botox and neuromodulators lead $40–$120 · booked $120–$420
Laser hair removal (package) lead $55–$180 · booked $140–$520
Injectables packages (toxin plus filler) lead $75–$200 · booked $220–$620
Cosmetic dermatology consult lead $75–$220 · booked $220–$640
Body contouring lead $180–$450 · booked $520–$1,600

Planning estimates, USD, 2026; blended across Google Search, Meta, TikTok and YouTube. Scale $0 to $1,600.

The jump from lead to booked consult is the part owners underestimate. Across treatments, a booked consultation costs roughly 2.5 to 4 times the qualified lead, depending on how quickly enquiries are answered and how well the front desk books them.

By metro tier

Your metro can double or halve the number

The report groups metros into three planning tiers. Tier 1 covers prime aesthetic markets (Manhattan, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Boston). Tier 2 covers anchor metros such as Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix-Scottsdale, Chicago and Nashville. Tier 3 covers metros under about one million people.

TreatmentTier 1Tier 2Tier 3
Botox and neuromodulators$95–$180$55–$110$40–$70
Laser hair removal$140–$260$80–$150$55–$95
Injectables packages$180–$340$110–$210$75–$140
Body contouring$380–$720$240–$460$180–$320

Cost per qualified lead by metro tier, planning estimates. Tier 2 runs about 1.4 to 1.8 times Tier 3; Tier 1 about 2.2 to 3.4 times.

Definitions

Most "cheap leads" are a counting problem

Before comparing your number with any benchmark, check what you are counting. The benchmark only counts a lead as qualified if it is contactable, inside your catchment, asking about a treatment you actually offer, not a duplicate within 30 days, not a vendor or competitor, and consented for follow-up. In unaudited accounts, raw form fills run 2.4 to 3.8 times the qualified count. A dashboard that says $45 per lead may really be $140.

And the leads you do pay for leak

Our own review data shows where. In our med spa Google presence study, booking and communication is the only review theme where complaints outnumber praise: 54.2% of 48 mentions were negative. Slow callbacks and booking mix-ups turn paid leads into lost consults and, sometimes, a 1-star review. The aesthetic benchmark puts a disciplined follow-up sequence at 22% to 38% more bookings from the same leads.

What this means for your practice

What this means for your med spa

  1. Benchmark by treatment and tier, using the tables in the CPQL report, not a blended number.
  2. Write down your qualified-lead definition and apply it to last quarter's leads before judging any channel.
  3. Track cost per booked consult and per first treatment, not just cost per lead.
  4. Answer every enquiry the same day. It is the cheapest way to lower every downstream cost.
  5. Budget for the season. January to March is peak cost for injectables and body contouring; plan spend, not just targets. Engagements with our US team start from $499/month, custom-scoped.

How we know: source, sample, date and limits

Source: US Aesthetic CPQL Benchmarks 2026 (Ichelon Consulting US): an 18-month rolling sample of US aesthetic media we manage, blended across Google Search, Meta, TikTok and YouTube, cross-checked against published industry benchmarks. Excludes branded search; assumes state medical board-compliant creative. Booking-complaint figure from our med spa Google presence study (2,990 classified review mentions, September 2026).

  • Planning estimates, not guarantees. Bands are wide because metro, channel, creative age and landing page all move the number.
  • "Qualified lead" follows the six-criteria rubric in the report (contactable, in area, treatment fit, de-duplicated, not a vendor or competitor, consented).
  • Metro tiers are our planning groups, not census categories.

FAQ

Common questions

What is a good cost per lead for Botox?

In our 2026 planning estimates, $40 to $120 per qualified lead, blended across Google Search, Meta, TikTok and YouTube. Prime metros such as Manhattan, Los Angeles and Miami run $95 to $180; smaller metros $40 to $70. A booked consultation typically costs $120 to $420.

Why is my med spa cost per lead so different from another practice's?

Usually because "lead" is defined differently. Our benchmark counts a lead only if it is contactable, in your area, asking for a treatment you offer, not a duplicate and consented for follow-up. Counting every form fill can make the figure look 2.4 to 3.8 times better than it is.

Is Meta or Google cheaper for med spa leads?

Meta usually produces cheaper leads on visual offers such as laser and body contouring, with wider quality variation. Google Search costs more per lead but catches people already looking to book, so more of those leads become consultations. Most growth plans use both.

What is cost per booked consultation for a med spa?

Spend divided by consultations actually booked. In our benchmark it runs 2.5 to 4 times cost per qualified lead: for example $120 to $420 for Botox and $520 to $1,600 for body contouring.

When are med spa leads most expensive?

In our seasonal data, January to March runs 18% to 32% above baseline for Botox and 22% to 38% for body contouring, while laser hair removal peaks in April to June.
