Methodology & how to cite

Where the numbers come from
and how to use them.

  • Sources. Statistics #1–11 come from the ICG CPQL Benchmark Database (Q2 2026 refresh, 272 client engagements, 16 specialties). The rest come from 21 ICG research reports listed in the reports library. Each statistic links to its own source.
  • Samples. Local-search and review figures come from 328 actively-managed healthcare Google Business Profiles (January–August 2026). Search and content figures come from 155 Indian healthcare Search Console properties in the ICG Search Intelligence Engine. YouTube figures come from channels tracked in ICG's YODA catalogue.
  • Limits. These are managed-portfolio samples, not random national samples. Specialty rows with fewer than 10 engagements or profiles are marked directional. Several findings are correlations, not controlled experiments.
  • What we left out. Where two ICG reports gave different figures for the same measure, we published neither until the data is reconciled.
  • Anonymisation. No clinic, doctor, patient or reviewer is named anywhere in the underlying data. Every figure is an aggregate.

CPQL is media spend divided by attended first consultations. It ranged from ₹420 for GP practices to ₹2,200 for plastic surgery.

58.6% of healthcare search impressions across 3,102 tracked Indian queries ended without a click on any organic result (April–August 2026), up from 41% in 2024 on the same query set. Symptom searches were highest at 71.4%; brand searches lowest at 32.1%.

ChatGPT. It accounted for about 92% of the AI-assistant referral sessions that could be attributed to a specific assistant across 155 tracked Indian healthcare properties (GA4, July–September 2026).

Across 328 managed healthcare profiles (January–August 2026), 14.3% had an active Q&A hijack, 27.6% of suggested edits were spam, and only 61.4% of 602 directory citations matched the profile on name, address and phone. Only 31.1% of profiles filled the full description field.

All figures come from Ichelon Consulting Group's published research: the CPQL benchmark dataset and 21 reports built on ICG's managed Google Business Profile portfolio, the ICG Search Intelligence Engine (155 Search Console properties) and the YODA YouTube catalogue. They describe managed portfolios, not random national samples. Each statistic lists its sample and links to its source report.
