What is treatment package pricing?

Treatment package pricing means selling a planned series of treatments, or a bundle of related services, for one stated price rather than charging per visit. Med spas use it for services that are normally delivered in several sessions, such as laser hair removal or skin resurfacing. Done well, it lifts completion and cash flow. Done badly, it creates refund disputes and misleading-pricing risk.

TL;DR
  • A package is a promise of future service, so the terms (expiry, transfers, refunds) matter as much as the price.
  • Advertised savings must compare against a real regular price the spa actually charged, not an inflated anchor.
  • Market packages on the treatment plan and outcome expectations, not on scarcity or pressure.
  • Track package completion rate and unredeemed sessions, not just package revenue.
  • Every practice welcome — retainers from $499/mo, Goals-Driven engagements, Performance-Linked Payout Models available.

“They were able to get all my ideas and work with me over a period of three to four months and create this amazing website. It's super customized, very modern, and it incorporates all the elements that I had wanted — the patient portal, nice pictures, a very interactive website, patient reviews. I would highly recommend their company to anyone who wants to make an excellent website.”

How does treatment package pricing work in a med spa?

A package groups a set number of sessions or services under one price, usually lower per session than buying them one at a time. The client pays upfront, in installments, or through financing. The spa then owes those sessions in the future, under whatever terms it put in writing.

Common package types

  • Series packages: several sessions of one service that typically needs repeat visits, such as laser hair removal.
  • Combination bundles: two or more complementary services sold together, such as a skin treatment plus a home-care product.
  • Prepaid credit: a dollar balance the client draws down across services.
  • Membership hybrids: a monthly fee that includes a set treatment each month. These sit closer to memberships, covered in our med spa membership marketing guide.

Injectables are often priced per unit or per syringe, so packaging them takes extra care. The amount a client needs is a clinical decision made at the consult, not a marketing one.

Why it matters

Why does package pricing matter for med spa marketing?

Packages change what the marketing has to sell. A single-session offer sells a visit. A package sells a plan, a provider and a relationship that lasts months. That shifts the message from price toward trust, consult quality and realistic expectations of how many sessions a client may need.

Packages also change the numbers that matter. Cost per lead looks different when one booked consult can turn into a multi-session sale. That is why we judge package campaigns on revenue per consult and on patient lifetime value, not on cost per click. It also gives the front desk a reason to rebook clients before they leave, which is the core of a healthy rebooking rate.

For a med spa building its full growth plan, package design sits alongside channel strategy on our med spa marketing agency page.

Rules

What pricing rules apply when you advertise a package?

Package advertising falls under the FTC Act ban on deceptive practices and the FTC Guides Against Deceptive Pricing. In plain terms, a "was" price should be one you genuinely offered to the public for a reasonably substantial period, and "buy one, get one" offers should not quietly raise the base price.

  • Savings claims: compare against your real single-session price, and keep the evidence.
  • Clear terms: state expiry, what happens if a client is not a candidate after the consult, transfer rules and how refunds work.
  • No outcome promises: a package price is not a guarantee of results. Avoid "guaranteed" language and keep claims consistent with what the device or product is cleared or approved for.
  • State law: some states regulate prepaid services, gift certificates and expiration dates, and some require a good faith estimate of expected charges for self-pay clients in certain settings. See good faith estimate.

Rules vary by state and service, so confirm your package terms with counsel.

Measure packages with three numbers you can pull from your booking system: packages sold per consult, average sessions completed per package, and the share of package clients who book again after finishing.

FAQ

Common questions

What is treatment package pricing in a med spa?

It is selling a set series of treatments, or a bundle of services, for one stated price instead of charging visit by visit. Clients usually pay upfront or in installments, and the med spa owes the sessions later under written terms covering expiry, transfers and refunds.

Can a med spa advertise package savings?

Yes, if the savings are real. Under the FTC Guides Against Deceptive Pricing, a comparison price should be one the spa genuinely charged the public for a reasonably substantial period. Inflated "regular" prices used only to make a discount look larger can be treated as deceptive.

Should packages be sold before or after a consultation?

After, in most cases. A provider needs to assess whether the client is a good candidate and how many sessions may be needed. Selling a package first leads to refund requests, unhappy clients and reviews that mention upselling.

How do you measure whether treatment packages are working?

Track packages sold per consult, average sessions completed per package, unredeemed sessions, and how many package clients rebook after finishing. Package revenue on its own hides problems such as clients who stop attending and never return.

A note on this guide: it explains marketing practice, not legal advice. Rules on privacy, advertising and insurance change and vary by state, so confirm anything compliance-related with your own counsel.
