TL;DR
- 57% of IVF leads stall due to cost concerns, making affordability communication the single largest conversion lever.
- Transparent EMI messaging (e.g. Rs. 2,999/month) repositions IVF as a manageable monthly commitment rather than an insurmountable cost.
- Middle-income households strongly prefer EMI financing; early affordability communication improves qualification-to-visit rates significantly.
- EMI marketing does not require discounting. It reframes the cost without reducing the price.
- Financial QBNI leads tagged "Budget Issue / Arranging Funds" should be enrolled in an EMI nurture sequence immediately.
EMI in IVF Marketing: Removing the 57% Cost Barrier Without Discounting
The Largest Single Barrier in Your Funnel
If there is one finding in the ICG IVF Marketing Insights Report 2025 that clinic owners and marketing managers should act on immediately, it is this: 57% of IVF leads stall due to cost concerns.

Not quality concerns. Not trust concerns. Cost. More than half of qualified, interested IVF seekers do not convert because they do not believe they can afford it, or because the way the cost is presented feels overwhelming.

The important distinction is that cost concerns are not the same as the inability to pay. Many leads in this 57% have the financial capacity to manage IVF costs. What they lack is a framework that makes the cost feel manageable. EMI communication provides exactly that framework.
Who Has Cost Concerns and Why
The report breaks down the cost concern profile more specifically for the middle-income segment, which represents the largest addressable IVF opportunity in India:
Segment
Cost Concern Profile
EMI Preference
Low SEC
Cost is absolute barrier; affordability essential
Must-have: EMI is the only path to IVF
Middle Income
Cost + hidden cost anxiety; affordability strongly preferred
Strongly preferred: EMI significantly improves conversion
High SEC
Cost not a barrier; payment flexibility accepted if available
Not required: but EMI accepted and sometimes welcomed

42% of middle-income IVF leads cite cost plus hidden cost anxiety as their primary delay factor. They are not only worried about the headline package price. They are worried about what else they will need to pay: medicines, scans, follow-up cycles, cancellation charges, storage fees.

Transparent EMI messaging addresses both concerns simultaneously. It converts the headline cost into a monthly figure and, when structured well, clarifies what is included.
How EMI Messaging Changes Funnel Behaviour
The report shows a consistent pattern: centres that introduce EMI communication early in the funnel, rather than as a last-resort sales tactic, see materially better qualification-to-visit rates and conversion.
Metric
Without Early EMI Communication
With Transparent EMI Messaging
Drop-off at qualification stage
High (cost objection blocks progression)
Reduced (cost reframed as manageable)
Middle-income retention in funnel
Low (self-selects out early)
Improved (monthly cost accessible)
Qualification to visit rate
Suppressed by cost anxiety
Higher across price-sensitive segments
Conversion rate (cost-concern leads)
Low
Significantly improved

The Reframing Mechanism
The psychological shift that EMI communication achieves is precise. A lump sum of Rs. 1.5-2 lakh feels like a financial disruption, a large one-time sacrifice with no certainty of return. A monthly instalment of Rs. 2,999 feels like a manageable commitment, comparable to other monthly subscriptions and household expenses.
The report describes this as repositioning IVF from an insurmountable sunk cost to a manageable monthly commitment. That single shift in framing, done transparently and early in the patient communication journey, moves a significant share of cost-concerned leads from delay to consideration.

Critically, this is not discounting. The clinic does not reduce the price. The clinic changes how the price is perceived. The total amount remains identical. The patient's relationship to that amount changes entirely.
When and How to Communicate EMI
Timing and placement of EMI messaging matters. The report's data points to early affordability messaging as the most effective approach:
At inquiry stage: include monthly payment option in the first WhatsApp message or call follow-up, alongside total package cost.
On the website: pricing pages should prominently feature the monthly EMI option, not bury it in a "Finance Options" tab.
In ad creative: for Meta campaigns targeting middle-income segments, EMI figures outperform total cost figures in ad copy.
In QBNI nurture: leads tagged "Budget Issue / Arranging Funds" should enter an automated sequence that includes EMI detail, calculator, and patient testimonials from budget-similar backgrounds.

Connecting EMI to the QBNI System
The EMI strategy integrates directly with the QBNI lead management system described in Blog 6. Financial-reason QBNI leads should be tagged "Budget Issue / Arranging Funds" and enrolled immediately in an EMI-focused nurture track.
This track combines EMI information with success stories from patients who faced similar affordability concerns. The combination of financial reassurance (this is manageable) and emotional reassurance (others like me have done this) is more effective than either message alone.
