An honest comparison of Meta ads competitor intelligence tools for Indian healthcare — Ad Library, SocialPeta, AdScout, PrismSpy — with the trade-offs no vendor sheet will tell you.
TL;DR
Every few months an Indian healthcare marketing lead asks the same question: "which competitor intelligence tool should we actually pay for?" The answers on comparison blogs are almost all vendor-influenced. This is the honest version, written from inside an agency that has bought, tested, discarded, and eventually built our own tool. If you are managing 1-3 healthcare accounts, most of this comparison will end with "free is fine". If you are managing 5+, the tool question becomes real.
We will compare four tools most Indian healthcare buyers evaluate: Meta Ad Library, SocialPeta, AdScout, and PrismSpy. Each solves a slightly different problem. None of them is universally right.

Meta Ad Library: the free default
Meta Ad Library is Meta's own transparency surface. It is free, updated near real-time, and covers every active ad on Facebook, Instagram, Reels, Messenger, and Audience Network. For most agencies with a small competitive set, this is honestly enough. The catch is what it does not do: no historical archive for non-political ads, no watchlists, no diffs, no clustering by treatment or city, no cross-platform coverage (Google runs its own separate transparency centre).
Ad Library also does not persist anything you do inside it. There are no saved searches. Every time you want to check whether a competitor launched something new, you start from scratch. For 3 competitors this is a 20-minute weekly task. For 15 competitors it becomes unrealistic — either you skip weeks or you build a spreadsheet, which is where paid tools start earning their keep.
SocialPeta: horizontal breadth, thin depth
SocialPeta is a Chinese-origin horizontal ad intelligence tool. It covers Meta, Google, TikTok, X, Snapchat, and several regional networks. For an agency running global e-commerce accounts, this breadth is useful. For Indian healthcare specifically, the depth is thin: the tool does not cluster by specialty, does not tag Indian offer patterns, and does not flag compliance signals (NMC, ART Act, PCPNDT). You get raw creative in bulk, and you do the interpretation.
Pricing is not published on their site, which usually means enterprise tiering — expect ₹40,000+ per month for a serious plan. Worth evaluating if you run healthcare plus other verticals under the same agency, less useful if you are healthcare-only.
AdScout and similar horizontal tools
AdScout and its several near-competitors (AdSpy, Anstrex, PowerAdSpy) all sit in the same bucket: horizontal ad libraries with different UIs. They usually surface a slightly broader archive than Meta Ad Library itself because they snapshot daily and keep the history when Meta drops it.
For healthcare specifically, three limits show up quickly. First, the search is by keyword rather than by specialty cluster, so you re-do a lot of manual sorting. Second, none of these tools understand the Indian healthcare context — hair transplant vs. hair care vs. dermatology all get lumped together. Third, pricing sits in the ₹8,000-₹25,000/month range depending on tier, which is often more than Meta Ad Library plus a well-run spreadsheet is worth replacing.
PrismSpy: vertical depth, Indian healthcare only
Full disclosure: PrismSpy is ICG's own tool. We built it because after evaluating the horizontal options for two years, none of them handled the specific problem we had — tracking Indian healthcare Meta advertising with specialty clustering, offer intelligence, and compliance signalling in one workflow.
What is different: PrismSpy pre-clusters ads by specialty (IVF, hair transplant, dental, aesthetic, hospital, ophth, and more), tracks 250+ Indian healthcare brands on a curated watchlist with daily snapshots, retains 18+ months of historical ad data for the vertical, covers both Meta and Google Ads Transparency in one dashboard, and flags ads that appear to breach NMC, ART Act, PCPNDT, or ASCI guidelines. What it does not do: cover verticals other than Indian healthcare, or replace the human interpretation layer (which lives in the framework, not the tool).
The comparison you actually need
Here is a comparison table across the axes that matter for Indian healthcare buyers:
| Capability | Meta Ad Library | SocialPeta | AdScout | PrismSpy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cost per month | Free | ₹40K+ | ₹8-25K | Included in ICG engagements |
| Historical archive (healthcare) | None | Partial | 6-12 months | 18+ months |
| Specialty clustering (Indian) | No | No | No | Yes |
| Google Ads coverage | No | Partial | Partial | Yes |
| Compliance signalling | No | No | No | NMC/ART/PCPNDT flags |
| Watchlists / saved searches | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Offer / CPQL tagging | No | No | No | Yes |
| Best fit | 1-3 accounts | Global horizontal | Mid-tier horizontal | Indian healthcare |
Do not read this table as a sales pitch. Read it as "where does the tool's design intent point?" — SocialPeta is designed for horizontal e-commerce work, not vertical healthcare. AdScout is designed for affiliate marketers running dropshipping ads. Neither was ever meant to answer "what is the current CPQL benchmark for aligner ads in Bangalore?" — PrismSpy was.
How to decide which one you need
Three-question decision guide:
- How many healthcare accounts do you manage? Under 3, Meta Ad Library and a shared spreadsheet is enough. 3-7, evaluate paid tools. Over 7, a purpose-built vertical tool starts paying for itself in analyst hours.
- How many competitors per account do you actively track? Under 5, manual is fine. 5-15, watchlists become valuable. Over 15, clustering becomes valuable.
- How much do you also need Google Ads Transparency data? If Google is a real channel for your clients (it is, for most healthcare), then a Meta-only tool leaves half the picture on the floor. Any tool you buy should cover both.
The most common mistake we see agencies make is over-buying. Signing up for a ₹40K/month tool when you have 2 accounts and check competitors twice a month is a straightforward waste. The second most common mistake is under-buying — running 10 accounts on Meta Ad Library alone, then wondering why the intelligence work never actually gets done. It never gets done because the tool made it a two-hour task per week when it should have been a 20-minute one.
ICG uses PrismSpy internally on every retained client, alongside Meta Catalyst IQ for the campaign-launch side. If you are evaluating tools independently, honestly try Meta Ad Library first for a full month, cap your usage at 45 minutes per account per week, and see if that produces the decisions you need. If it does, do not buy anything. If it does not, then a paid tool is doing real work.
