TL;DR — Mumbai healthcare search, 2026
- Mumbai runs above the India-wide healthcare median on nearly every metric. Median grid rank 6.1 (vs 9.4 nationally), top-3 pack presence 65.2 percent (vs 32.5 percent in New Delhi), AIO citation 15.8 percent (vs 12.1 percent nationally).
- Structural advantage: lower rival density. Average Mumbai healthcare listing has fewer than 40 rivals in its 5-km grid, vs 90+ in central Delhi.
- Bandra-Khar-Santacruz (H West) is the best-performing pocket. AIO citation 21.4 percent, top-3 pack presence 78.1 percent, median grid rank 4.9.
- Thane-Ghatkopar corridor is the toughest for pack presence. Median grid rank 7.4, pack presence 58.0 percent — a long linear neighbourhood spreads contest.
- Diagnostic centres are Mumbai's highest-AIO specialty at 19.1 percent citation rate. Velocity of 5.90 reviews/week feeds the freshness signal.
- Practice recommendation: hit the top-decile mark for your category within twelve months, then hold. The city\'s density advantage makes the target reachable.

Methodology
This report aggregates the Mumbai slice from three ICG data platforms. GBP metrics come from the Angryturtle continuous 14-dimension audit across 42 Mumbai-registered healthcare Google Business Profiles, spanning nine specialties and six neighbourhood clusters. On-site SEO and AIO citation metrics come from the SIE dataset — 18 healthcare web properties whose listings resolve inside greater Mumbai. YouTube metrics come from YODA — 620 healthcare videos published by Mumbai-based practices across the reporting window.
Neighbourhood clusters. Six clusters are used to normalise ward-level density: South Mumbai (A, B, C wards), Bandra-Khar-Santacruz (H West), Andheri West (K West), Powai-Chandivali (S), Thane-Ghatkopar corridor, and Navi Mumbai. Cluster assignment is based on the address of record on the GBP, with cross-checks against citation-source consistency. Rival density is measured as the count of same-primary-category listings inside a 5-km radius of the pin.
Grid scans. Every GBP was scanned on a 7-by-7 geo-grid (49 points, ~5 km on a side) at study start and study end. Median grid rank per neighbourhood is the median across matched-category listings in the cluster.
Anonymisation. No practice names, clinic names, doctor names, addresses, phone numbers or reviewer identifiers appear in this report. Every figure is aggregated at neighbourhood or specialty level.

Mumbai vs India-wide healthcare
Rival density. The average Mumbai healthcare listing sits inside a 5-km grid with 38 rivals in its primary category. The equivalent listing in central New Delhi sits inside a grid with 91 rivals. The density differential is entirely structural — Mumbai\'s peninsular geography and ward layout produce naturally smaller catchment cells per neighbourhood, whereas Delhi\'s ring-road-and-radial layout concentrates listings around central corridors.
Review activity. Mumbai patients leave reviews at roughly 1.2x the pan-India median across matched categories, and read reviews at meaningfully higher rates too (measured via GBP click-to-review ratios). Higher raw review activity lifts the review-defence floor for every listing in the city and makes velocity easier to sustain.
AIO surface. Mumbai does not have a materially higher AIO citation rate than the pan-India median simply because it is Mumbai — but the combination of lower rival density and higher review activity means Mumbai listings clear the citation-eligibility thresholds more easily. The absolute AIO citation rate on healthcare queries with a Mumbai geo-context is 15.8 percent vs 12.1 percent nationally.
What Mumbai practices should actually do
1 · Set your operating target at your neighbourhood P90, not your city P50
Mumbai\'s density advantage means the top-decile mark is reachable for well-run practices. Setting the target at the neighbourhood median cedes the pack real-estate advantage that Mumbai gives you for free.
2 · Prioritise the AIO stack in Bandra, Powai and South Mumbai
These three pockets have the highest concentration of AIO-eligible healthcare queries in the city. Deep FAQ + HowTo + named byline stack pays back faster in these pockets than anywhere else.
3 · Prioritise pack presence in Thane-Ghatkopar and Navi Mumbai
These are the two pockets where median grid rank sits above 6.5 — meaning the pack contest is genuinely open. Sustained review velocity and photo integrity move rank faster here than in the saturated central pockets.
4 · Segment content by ward, not just city
"Best dermatologist in Mumbai" and "best dermatologist in Bandra" are two different queries with two different AIO surfaces. Ward-level city pages consistently out-cite generic city pages on the ward-specific query.
