TL;DR — six things Bangalore healthcare operators should know
- Bangalore CPQL varies more by specialty than by zone — diagnostics run cheapest, fertility and hair transplantation highest. National specialty medians are in the CPQL benchmarks dataset.
- Indiranagar-CV Raman Nagar-Domlur is the strongest zone on the two metrics that compound — 4.8 median grid rank and 20.7 percent AIO citation rate.
- Whitefield-Marathahalli-Sarjapur ORR is the toughest pack surface — 7.1 median grid rank because the corridor stretches contest across ten kilometres of linear tech-belt density.
- Diagnostic centres lead every AIO metric at 20.3 percent citation rate and 5.42 reviews per week — natural velocity plus procedural content shape.
- Fertility carries the deepest journey — a 60-90 day discovery window rewards content depth and named-byline coverage more than paid spend.
- KPMEA registration references appear to lift comparison-mode AIO citation — a Karnataka-specific trust attribute worth surfacing on GBP description and byline cards.

Five numbers to anchor the Bangalore picture
Methodology
This report aggregates data from three ICG product datasets, all filtered to Bangalore-based listings and Bangalore-served content between 1 January 2026 and 31 August 2026. The GBP layer draws from the Bangalore slice of a 328-Google-Business-Profile Angryturtle portfolio (38 profiles matched). The on-site AIO layer draws from the Bangalore slice of a 155-property SIE crawl and probe dataset (16 sites matched). The video layer draws from the Bangalore slice of an 8,749-video YODA catalogue (540 videos matched). CPQL numbers are drawn from GA4 conversion slices on the same Bangalore sites, normalised to a common qualified-lead definition (form fill plus phone-verify plus 30-second WhatsApp reply).
Zone clustering. Bangalore is a distributed metro without a single dense healthcare spine, so we cluster listings into six operating zones rather than BBMP administrative wards: Central (MG Road, Lavelle, Richmond), Indiranagar-CV Raman Nagar-Domlur, Koramangala-HSR-BTM, Jayanagar-JP Nagar-Banashankari, Whitefield-Marathahalli-Sarjapur ORR, and North Bangalore (Hebbal, Yelahanka, Airport corridor). Grid scans are normalised across the eight-month window; pack presence is the share of scanned grid points where the listing appears in the top-3 local pack.
Anonymisation. No client, doctor, business name, address, phone number or reviewer identity appears anywhere in this report. All figures are aggregates by zone, specialty or dimension. Where a value is a per-listing mean, we report the sample mean; where a rate, the sample proportion. No inference is made about individual profiles.
What this report does not claim. This is not a Bangalore-wide market share study. It is not a random sample of Bangalore healthcare listings. It is the aggregate behaviour of a specific managed slice, published so healthcare operators, marketing leads and platform teams have a real Bangalore reference point instead of vibes. Where a zone or specialty is thin (n < 3) we say so or omit.
Finding 1 · Bangalore is a distributed metro — zone geometry drives the numbers
The pattern: Bangalore healthcare demand does not sit in a single spine. It clusters into six operating zones, each with its own density, CPQL and pack contest.
The average healthcare listing in Central Bangalore has more competing rivals in its 5-km grid than the average listing in North Bangalore, but the average listing in Whitefield contests a longer linear surface than either — the ORR belt stretches over ten kilometres of tech-corridor density, which spreads pack presence thin. Central Bangalore looks compact on a map but functions as a very high-density node where a top-3 pack position is contested by 55-70 rivals inside 5 km. Indiranagar-Domlur is the most concentrated healthcare pocket in the city and the one where AIO citation rewards content depth the fastest.
| Zone | n | Median grid rank | Top-3 pack | AIO citation | Density |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Central (MG Road · Lavelle · Richmond) | 6 | 5.2 | 71.6% | 19.4% | Very high |
| Indiranagar · CV Raman Nagar · Domlur | 6 | 4.8 | 74.8% | 20.7% | Very high |
| Koramangala · HSR Layout · BTM | 7 | 5.9 | 67.2% | 18.1% | High |
| Jayanagar · JP Nagar · Banashankari | 6 | 6.4 | 62.4% | 14.6% | High |
| Whitefield · Marathahalli · Sarjapur ORR | 7 | 7.1 | 58.9% | 13.8% | Medium |
| North Bangalore (Hebbal · Yelahanka · Airport) | 6 | 6.9 | 60.1% | 12.4% | Medium |

Finding 2 · CPQL bands are specialty-driven, not neighbourhood-driven
The pattern: in the Bangalore slice, CPQL moved far more between specialties than between zones. ICG does not publish city-level CPQL figures; national specialty medians are in the CPQL benchmarks dataset.
Zone-to-zone CPQL variance is smaller than most operators expect, while specialty-to-specialty variance is much wider. That means a Bangalore multi-specialty operator saves more by rebalancing which service lines to push than by rebalancing which zone to advertise in. The efficient operating point is to lead with diagnostics and physiotherapy in the lower CPQL bracket to build reputation velocity, then unlock fertility and hair-transplant discovery volume behind that reputation floor.
Finding 3 · Diagnostic centres are the AIO leaders — and Bangalore has room to widen the gap
The number: 20.3 percent AIO citation rate for diagnostic centres in the Bangalore slice, the highest of any specialty measured.
Two structural drivers. Diagnostic-centre content is naturally procedural — "how to prepare for a CT scan", "what to expect during a cardiac ECG", "how long does a full-body health check take" — which pairs with HowTo schema and lifts AIO citation eligibility on informational queries. Diagnostic centres also carry the highest natural review velocity (5.42 reviews per week on average in Bangalore), which feeds the AIO freshness sub-signal. The compounding effect: every Bangalore diagnostic centre in the sample that runs both procedural content and structured post-visit review flows sits materially above the specialty mean.
| Specialty | n | AIO citation | Top-3 pack | Weekly velocity | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dermatologist | 5 | 15.2% | 66.1% | 0.46 | Indiranagar and Koramangala pockets run above city median |
| Dental clinic | 6 | 12.6% | 69.4% | 0.67 | HSR Layout dominates volume · Jayanagar dominates rating |
| Fertility clinic | 5 | 17.1% | 73.2% | 0.55 | Discovery journey is long |
| Ophthalmologist | 3 | 11.4% | 70.3% | 0.28 | Slow velocity but stable rank · specialist searches dominate |
| Diagnostic centre | 5 | 20.3% | 81.2% | 5.42 | Highest velocity and lowest CPQL in the Bangalore slice |
| Orthopaedic clinic | 4 | 13.7% | 63.5% | 1.02 | Second-opinion queries drive material share of AIO |
| Hair transplantation | 4 | 16% | 65.7% | 1.24 | Cost-comparison queries dominate the AIO surface |
| Physiotherapy | 3 | 9.1% | 61.4% | 2.18 | Neighbourhood searches dominate · pack radius small |
| Mental health / Psychiatry | 4 | 10.4% | 55.7% | 1.36 | Informational surface expanding fast · AIO tailwind |

Finding 4 · Indiranagar-Domlur is the AIO pocket · Whitefield is the pack-density challenge
The gap: 20.7 percent AIO citation in Indiranagar-Domlur vs 12.4 percent in North Bangalore, on the same specialties. 4.8 median grid rank in Indiranagar-Domlur vs 7.1 in Whitefield-Marathahalli-Sarjapur ORR.
Two pockets, two lessons. Indiranagar-Domlur wins AIO because pocket-level content depth runs 15-25 percent above the city median and most pocket listings carry named-specialist byline cards with LinkedIn and NMC/DCI registration references — both of which the AIO citation model rewards. The Whitefield-ORR corridor loses pack because the geographic surface it must defend is longer than any other zone in the city; the same operating investment yields lower pack presence per rupee than in a compact central pocket.
Finding 5 · KPMEA visibility appears to lift comparison-mode AIO
The signal: Bangalore listings that surface Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act (KPMEA) registration references on GBP description and named-byline cards receive a higher share of comparison-mode AIO citations in the sample than listings that do not.
This is a directional finding, not a controlled experiment — the sample is not large enough to isolate KPMEA visibility from other trust attributes. But the direction is consistent across specialties: comparison-mode queries such as "best fertility clinics in Bangalore with verified registration" and "trusted dermatology clinics in Indiranagar" appear to reward listings that make regulatory registration visible on the surface. Practical implication: surface KPMEA plus NMC / DCI / KMC references on the site footer, GBP description and byline card. It costs nothing and it appears to compound. Always confirm current KPMEA requirements with a qualified compliance advisor — nothing in this report is regulatory advice.
Finding 6 · Review velocity is a category destiny, muted by zone
The range: from 0.28 reviews per week (ophthalmology) to 5.42 per week (diagnostics) across the Bangalore slice. Zone variance on the same specialty averages plus or minus 15 percent — much smaller than the specialty spread.
Ophthalmology, dermatology and fertility all sit below one review per week in the Bangalore sample. In each of those categories, a single one-star review takes 15-25 weeks to dilute at natural velocity — so review-request automation matters more here than anywhere else in the portfolio. Post-visit SMS or WhatsApp within 24 hours of the appointment lifts velocity by 1.5-3x in the sample, which cuts recovery time to 5-10 weeks.
Finding 7 · The Bangalore YouTube layer skews to specialist explainers, not brand films
The number: 540 Bangalore-served videos in the YODA slice, with 62 percent classified as specialist-explainer content (single-doctor to camera, 3-9 minute run-time) and 21 percent as procedure walkthroughs. Only 11 percent are brand or clinic films.
Bangalore healthcare video demand rewards depth over polish. Watch-through rate on specialist-explainer videos in the slice averages 47 percent — well above the pan-India healthcare benchmark of 32-38 percent — while brand-film watch-through averages 18 percent. The efficient content operating model for a Bangalore practice is one specialist-explainer per fortnight per named doctor, plus one procedure walkthrough per month; brand films should sit as a support layer, not a lead surface.
What this means for Bangalore healthcare marketers
1 · Pick your zone geometry before your ad spend
A Bangalore multi-clinic operator should model CPQL at zone level, not at city level. The zone-to-zone CPQL spread is small, but the pack contest spread is not — Indiranagar-Domlur and Central Bangalore reward compounding investment; Whitefield-ORR needs a wider content and video layer to hold pack presence at all.
2 · Lead with the lowest-CPQL specialty to build the reputation floor
Diagnostics and physiotherapy do double duty. They generate leads at low cost and they build the review velocity floor that lets higher-CPQL specialties like fertility and hair transplantation defend rank when discovery volume ramps.
3 · Make Karnataka-specific compliance references visible
KPMEA, NMC, DCI, KMC — every registration reference the practice can legitimately surface belongs on the site footer, GBP description and named-byline card. The evidence in this sample is directional, not causal, but the operational cost is zero.
4 · Run specialist-explainer video as the primary YouTube surface
The Bangalore audience rewards named specialists over produced brand films. One 3-9 minute explainer per fortnight per named doctor beats a quarterly brand launch on every measurable metric in the YODA slice.
