Four numbers to anchor the report
Methodology
This report aggregates dental-specific slices from three ICG data platforms. GBP metrics come from the Angryturtle continuous 14-dimension audit across 25 dental Google Business Profiles (16 general dental clinics, 4 dentists, 1 pediatric dentist, 3 cosmetic dentistry brands, 1 orthodontist). On-site SEO and AIO citation metrics come from the SIE dataset — 12 dental web properties, with 25 matched service pages and pillar pages probed weekly across the reporting window. YouTube metrics come from YODA — 340 dental videos published across the same period, with impressions, CTR and average-view-duration tracked at video level.
Portfolio anchor. The dental slice is drawn from ICG\'s 328-GBP Angryturtle portfolio, 155-property SIE dataset and 8,749-video YODA catalogue. Dental represents roughly 8 percent of the GBP portfolio, 8 percent of SIE properties, and 4 percent of the YouTube catalogue by volume. Cross-checks against the wider healthcare aggregate confirm dental sits close to the healthcare median on most metrics, with two exceptions: response rate is somewhat lower than the healthcare median (64.7 percent vs the sample-wide mid-40s driven upwards by pediatric dentists), and review velocity is on par with the healthcare median.
Anonymisation. No clinic names, dentist names, addresses, phone numbers or reviewer identifiers appear anywhere in this report. Every figure is aggregated at sub-category level or reported as a P10/P50/P90 across the dental slice.

Dental sub-category benchmarks
| Sub-category | n GBPs | Median grid rank | AIO citation rate | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General dental clinic | 16 | 8.4 | 11.4% | Median service page 1,180 words · response rate 64.7% |
| Dentist (solo/small) | 4 | 6.2 | 13.8% | Slightly better AIO because bylines are single-name |
| Pediatric dentist * | 1 | 3.4 | 24.1% | Category outlier · 7.92 reviews/wk drives every dimension |
| Cosmetic dentistry brand | 3 | 7.9 | 15.6% | YouTube-heavy · benefits from dental Shorts pipeline |
| Orthodontist * | 1 | 9.1 | 9.3% | Long treatment cycle hurts review velocity |

What a top-decile dental digital operation looks like
Ten characteristics show up together on every top-decile dental listing in the sample.
- GBP health score above 85 out of 100.
- Review count above 2,000 with response rate above 89 percent.
- Review velocity above 1.4 per week, sustained across four consecutive quarters.
- Full 750-character description; logo and cover photo both present; at least 40 photos on the listing.
- Website service pages between 1,500 and 2,200 words with 6-8 FAQs per page.
- HowTo schema on procedure pages (implant recovery, aligner cleaning, whitening prep).
- Named-byline stack with a named dentist per specialty page and Person schema populated.
- Monthly YouTube Shorts pipeline (4-6 per month), plus 1-2 long-forms per quarter.
- Post-visit review-request automation via SMS or WhatsApp within 24 hours.
- Monthly geo-grid scan and health-score check with a documented remediation plan.
The top-decile clinic is not doing one thing brilliantly. It is doing ten things reliably.
What most dental clinics should do this quarter
1 · Close the response-rate gap first
The largest single gap between P50 and P90 in the dental sample. Automate the response workflow using policy-safe templates. Target 85 percent within 90 days.
2 · Rewrite service pages to the 1,200-word band
Median dental service page in the sample is 1,180 words. That is roughly the right zone — but many clinics sit below 500 words and are leaking AIO citation entirely.
3 · Automate post-visit review requests
SMS or WhatsApp within 24 hours of the visit. One soft nudge at 72 hours. Nothing else. This is the single lever that moves review velocity from 0.5 to 1.4 per week.
4 · Publish 4-6 YouTube Shorts per month on procedure queries
Educational cuts, not promotional. 30-45 seconds. Real footage where possible. The compounding footprint pays back in year two, not week two.
