Why sequential matters.
Not just multiple eyes.
Concurrent review — where four people look at the same document at the same time — produces overlapping comments, conflicting recommendations, and no clear audit trail. Sequential review enforces a hierarchy of concerns: scientific accuracy must be locked before editorial structure is finalised, which must be locked before compliance is checked, which must be locked before technical formatting is signed off.
The result: at every QC layer, the reviewer can focus on their layer's concern — without being distracted by issues that belong to another layer.
